Chalice Lighters are committed UUs who are willing to give a helping hand by pledging specific contributions to foster new congregations and help district congregations grow and flourish. All qualifying member congregations are eligible to apply for a Chalice Lighter grant. 100% of all donations go toward qualifying grant applications. Donations are tax deductible.

Respond to the Chalice Lighters Letter of Request (Call letter) at least three times each year by making a donation to be applied toward your Chalice Lighters pledge, or make a one-time annual donation prior to December 31st each year.

Renew your Chalice Lighters pledge each January and start all over again.

RETURNING CHALICE LIGHTERS...If you have been away from the Chalice Lighters Program for a while and wish to renew your pledge, please complete the Chalice Lighters Pledge Form and submit to the Heartland District office.

MAKE A CHALICE LIGHTERS DONATION...Chalice Lighters donations are tax deductible. 100% of all Chalice Lighters donations are distributed to Chalice Lighters grant recipients. Pledges may be paid in three installments when the "Call" is received (by letter or email) in January, April and October each year; or make a one-time annual donation anytime during the year prior to December 31st. Checks should be made out to Heartland District Chalice Lighters and mailed to Heartland District of the UUA, 5351 E. Thompson Rd., 229, Indianapolis, IN 46237-4094.

ORGANIZE A CHALICE LIGHTERS SUNDAY...Want to hold a Chalice Lighters Sunday at your congregation? The following promotional materials will be helpful. For further guidance, contact the district office at office@heartlanduu.org, or call toll free at 888-948-4883.

HOW TO APPLY FOR A CHALICE LIGHTERS GRANT...Each Chalice Lighters Grant Application is reviewed to ensure the project fits the program guidelines. From qualifying applications, one recipient or (sometimes) two are selected for inclusion in a Chalice Lighters "Call", which is conducted three times each year in January, April, and October.
