Fair Share Congregations...The criteria for a Fair Share Congregation is the same at both the district and national level. Member congregations are asked to make a financial contribution each fiscal year (July 1 - June 30). The requested contribution (Fair Share) is calculated on the basis of the number of members your congregation certified for the UUA General Assembly the previous February. The Fair Share for the following fiscal year (July 1 - June 30) is:

Fair Share Giving Rate to Increase

After much deliberation, we announce that the Fair Share giving rate to the Heartland District will increase to $22 a member effective for the fiscal year from July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013.

The increase to this amount was actually approved by delegates to the Heartland Annual Meeting in 2006 and was to have gone into effect July 1, 2010. We've been able to hold the increase off for a few years, as we knew that the economy was making it tough for everyone in Heartland.

But we can no longer continue the operations and service delivery you've come to expect and appreciate without this increase taking effect now. We've given up over $15,000 District-wide these past two years and have cut wherever we could, and whatever we could. Now there's no more room to cut. So we're coming to you to ask for the support you voted for six years ago.

District Contributions...Each year, Heartland District member congregations are asked to submit an Estimate of Congregation Pledge Request. This pledge of annual support helps the District adjust its budget based on anticipated contributions. The Fiscal Year 2012-2013 Estimate of Contribution Pledge Request should be submitted to the District office by August 1, 2012, or at your earliest opportunity.

Annual Program Fund...Significant financial support for the Unitarian Universalist movement comes directly from our 1,047 member congregations. Congregational contributions to the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) Annual Program Fund (APF) provide almost half of the Association's unrestricted income. These contributions fund Association programs, services and resources that directly benefit and strengthen congregations and Unitarian Universalism as a whole. Click HERE to learn more.
