 Who We Are

Representing congregations in the Midwest and upper South, the Heartland District uses its resources to promote and develop strong, growing congregations that interact with other UU congregations, their communities, the District, and the UUA.
The Heartland District was formed in 2000 from a merger of the Unitarian Universalist District of Michigan (UUDOM) and the Ohio Valley Unitarian Universalist District (OVUUD).  The Heartland District, one of 20 Unitarian Universalist districts in the nation, serves 8,099 members and 53 congregations in the states of Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, and Ohio.

Our vision is of Heartland District cultivating a beloved identity of strong connections among congregations, the District, and the larger Unitarian Universalist movement.  Heartland District provides its staff and volunteers the opportunity to deepen their faith while doing District work.  In our vision, Unitarian Universalism's vitality improves the quality of spiritual and religious life in the Heartland District.

Speakers Bureau

The following individuals are willing to provide either worship services or other programming for congregations - for Sunday mornings and for other times.  Some will come with a complete service; others will bring a presentation/program/sermon to fit within your worship format.  Some of the programs may be best for non-service sessions.  Some providers (primarily clergy) are also available to provide rites of passage for Unitarian Universalist congregations within the Heartland District.

Please contact the individuals directly for information about their availability, honorarium and travel costs.

If you're interested in joining the Heartland Speakers Bureau, please contact Nancy Combs-Morgan, Acting District Executive, at de@heartlanduu.org.
