Regionalization...There
is a movement to regionalization happening in the UUA.
MidAmerica Region is composed of three Districts:
●
Heartland District
●
Central Midwest District
●
Prairie Star District
What regionalization means for the Heartland District...regionalization
is proceeding on two fronts: Governance and Services to Congregations.
Governance...Presidents
of the three districts have begun collaborating on the future of district boards
in our region. Other UUA regions are engaged in the same activity.
Regionalization of Governance: Why?...All
studies we have seen show a change in the church of today compared to the church
of the past, as practiced. We want to grow our faith. We also know
that for church to take us into the future we all envision, we need to be
governed and structured in a way that is adaptable. Read
full statement from Amy Taylor, President, Heartland Board of Trustees.
Statement of Collaboration...The Boards of the three
Districts have each approved a statement of collaboration or cooperation.
Read the
three statements.
Services to Congregations...Regionalization will mean
sharing the services of district field staff. Between now and June 2013,
field staff from the three districts will serve the whole region. Meet the
Regional Field
Staff.
Terasa Cooley, UUA Director of Congregational Life, talks about Regionalization
at the September 2011 UUA Staff Meeting.
